What Should You Learn?

What Should You Learn?

I am sure all of you by now agree that we all must learn, and indeed that learning is an ongoing process.

You should always be learning.

Where many people go wrong is in what area they choose to learn. When I am giving my talks on being an Empowered Investor, I often ask the following two questions:

1.Where should you be focusing your learning?

2. What should you be learning?

Clearly these are big questions, and I get many answers…. What is your answer?

You see the thing is this, where you put your time, energy, effort and money (your resources), this will directly impact your results. This is one of the key principles when I realized that anything and everything is an investment.

So what learning should you put your resources into?

The simple answer is, anything that will take you closer to your GOALS. You must start with the end in mind, which is where you want to go. Then you can focus on learning those skills, knowledge, techniques and ways, which will move you closer to your goal.

There is absolutely no point in you learning how to be a lawyer, accountant or an astrologer, if it does not match to your goals. If you want to be successful, you must learn from, model and take action from people who have already accomplished what you want. They don’t have to be rich, or at the top, if they can teach you things that will move you closer to where and how you want to be, and then this is where you should focus.

I came across this article recently, whereby Ernst and Young have now removed Degree classification from their entry requirement.

Ernst & Young Removes Degree Classification From Entry Criteria As There’s ‘No Evidence’ University Equals Success

Many of you will have been aware that the facts and studies show, that there is absolutely no correlation between degree’s and success. I believe it comes down to this point. There will of course be people whom have taken a degree in their field, and gone on to be successful. I believe it is very likely that this was their goal, and they were very driven by it.

So in summary, be careful where you choose to invest your time, energy, effort and money, especially when it comes to learning and development.

Always make sure, that it is linked and will improve your pass to your goals. This adjustment will bring you much better results, and far more enjoyment in the process.
